Lift weights to shred fat!

I'm sure you've seen the commercials. "Take this, don't ever have to go to the gym again!" ...or "buy this meal system and never have to workout to shred fat!"...or my personal favorite..."if it ever feels like a workout we will refund your money!" There's a trend in the fitness and nutrition industry to cater to people's laziness while still taking their money. They want a quick "weight-loss" fix and are happy to pay for it. However, when the weight comes back on 10 times faster than it came off and your metabolism is trashed, what then?

 

The answer is PREVENTION! Don't buy into all the hyped-up media BS! If you just diet, or just diet and take fat burners; sure you'll lose weight. But I can guarantee you it's going to just be muscle and water. See, the way your body works is it keeps what it needs and gets rid of what it doesn't.

 

Protein is the most readily form of energy in the absence of glucose. So, if you're starving yourself and not stimulating your body to build muscle by lifting weights, you're just going to burn amino acids for energy. Muscle burns fat. The less tissue you have the less you burn. This means that over time your metabolism is going to slow to a stop. Besides that, by following a fad diet or "shake routine" you're basically telling your body it's going to die of hunger soon. It's going to be holding on to every bit of fat it can to prevent future starvation.

 

The end result of your "easy" no gym routine is going to be more weight gain. You won't only get fat. Your body's metabolism will be so trashed it's going to be nearly impossible to burn any type of fat in the future. For this reason, I refuse to sell any nutrition only plans. LIFTING...not some BS bow-flex or Zumba "feel good about yourself" workout...is the key to sustained fat loss and looking better.

 

Next time you see a TV commercial advertising quick results with no gym time, get your lazy butt off the couch and hire a trainer to get you moving. It's the best investment you can make in your health and self confidence!
