Shoutout to my client Daniel!
These pictures are two weeks apart.
He contacted me roughly a year or so post bariatric surgery because he was unhappy with how his physique was progressing. He lost a ton of weight, but not just fat. His muscle went with it.
The doctors gave him little to no advice on eating to maintain muscle. They also neglected to explain the importance of lifting to prevent muscle loss and deterioration.
His goal right now is to build lean muscle- both for general health and to improve metabolism. An added benefit of this recomp will also be tightened skin.
Because his stomach can only hold so much food, we have increased the frequency of Daniel’s meals. Currently, he is eating 6 times per day. We are also prioritizing lean protein over fats and carbs. Again, he can only take so much food at once, so we have to make it count. You can’t build or maintain muscle mass on a hypo-caloric (the default for post lap band etc), low protein, diet.
The result has been significant energy increases. His strength is up, and his skin is tightening up. I’m proud of Daniel for taking the important step of optimizing his diet towards building his goal physique!
